My Baby Shower

My baby shower was December 18, 2011 and I loved it. People kept asking "Are you sure you are having a boy", sarcastically because there wasn't a space left that didn't say Baby Boy. Ja Ja. This was all possible because of my wonderful sister, honestly I don't know what I would do with out her. Hands down she is going to be at the birth of my son.

So this is the before where we all were decorating, apparently the chair and table guy arrived late and we early.
DH Decorating
Party Favors
Theses are some of the favors that were on the tables. I didn't take as much pictures as I though I did. We gave away note pads with the blue baby feet (that was my theme) and photo coasters.
My Beautiful Sister
Here she is placing the final touches before she goes to get ready. Nobody could see her like that she said, HA.

Two Feet Cake
It tastes as beautiful as it looks. We made sure there was a lot left over so we could keep eating the following days. I don't know the name of the lady that makes them but she is a genius. She needs work on the chocolate part, but the vanilla is to die for. And I don't like many cakes but hers is divine.
The eight year old of a friend of mine mentioned that it was great but the frosting was encapsulated in a layer that he did not like. (It was laminated frosting LOL) He is so cute.

Well I honestly though I had taken more pictures and I didn't. Well, what to do. The opening of the presents was fun it took us half an hour to open the presents from my mother in law (She went a BIT overboard) and the rest took about five minutes. My mom had us change diapers with way too much mustard and not enough wet cloths. My DH shake the baby into convulsion (note to self watch him like a hawk) because he though it was soothing for the baby.

A few people showed up after we cleaned the place up and I even had to tell someone not to come and remind her "Girl this is a BABY shower not a DISCO party". The invites said 1-6pm she was on her way at 8pm. COME ON.

It was very nice and I am very grateful for the people who made it possible. Sometimes it makes me sad that these people do so much for me and I may never e able to repay them.

Regards,

The Nursing Cover Project

DYI Nursing Cover

The materials

I made my own nursing cover, YAY, because honestly paying from $35 to $40 was a little high up considering they looked so easy to make. So with $20 dollars worth of materials (I still have materials to make at least 4, I over bought) I embarked on a journey never before seen in this house. Notice that I have milk and baby wipes as part of my working montage.

I looked online for a pattern and found one at Prudent Baby she is the best and must receive the credit, and then just followed the instructions. Easier said than done, right!

After a very rough start, my sewing machine hasn't been used in over 5 years, and it kept hitting the bottom bobbin, I could finally sew a straight line. I measures and cut, then ironed and sew.

It had to remember to read the instructions and not do what I think should do next, just because it looked like that on the picture. That would have saved me a lot re-doing and re-sewing.

So, anyway after two night of working on it, I finally finished it. I added my own touch to it and made it special. This is the finished project.

You can see I added a 2 pockets, one for something small and the other to hang the burping cloth from. It should come on handy. I will know later when I take it for a stroll.

It covers my ladies and part of my lap. and there is room on the sides, maybe next one will be a little wider just because I'm paranoid.

I added boning to the neck part so I can see the baby while I nurse him. This is the best feature and is why I didn't just use any old blanket.

I can bet that a pro mom (some one who has done this before) can do it with just a burping cloth covering the child's head, or maybe with out any covering at all. But I am very self conscious and don't feel comfortable. Again maybe on the long run I will use a burp cloth too. But for now I am very happy with my DIM (Did it myself) burping cloth.

See ya later.

The Baby Blues

Princess
We are both suffering the baby blues, or maybe its the Christmas Blues. I really don't  know which blues they are, but they ARE really blue. I came home from work and wanted to do nothing, not eat, not sleep, not breathe, it is really sucky. I am tired but have not done much but sit at a desk the whole day, and everything makes me be in a bad mood. I dunno whats wrong and dear husband asks if something happened and why am I down. He ask if I feel well and I do. Its not my health but my spirit that needs uplifting. I wish he was here with me, but he is at work. And I prefer it that way, so I can sulk and post to my hearts content.
So she (my beautiful rescued lady dog) apparently picked up on it and has not left my side. That, and I fed her leftover turkey I am her favorite person in the world.
I tried watching a movie, "Bad Teacher" and turned it off in the first ten minutes, which is a very weird thing for me to do. I must find a way to lift up my spirits. Maybe a warm bath is the answer.
Maybe I just need it to pass, a nice dream may be the answer. Hope it ends soon.

Our First Christmas Tree

My First Christmas Tree
Christmas is here once again and with it I get to finally put on my first ever Christmas Tree. I did have them growing up, but this is MINE. Ever since my husband and I started living together it was sort of an unspoken rule that we would put our First Tree when we had a house of our own.

So this year it finally happened, we bought a house, have a bundle of joy on the way AND put up a Christmas tree. For me is a very big deal because they mean family. I can't wait to have my son look and like the Christmas Tree, of course this means he has to be born and since he isn't due until February I guess another year will be.

My hubby wants to do his part in the Christmas Tree wagon (paying for it isn't enough for him) so he is in charge of the Topper. (Notice how it doesn't have one) He wants to put an angel or a star, I don't know yet since he is going to buy it and set it up. I had already bought some bow making things and planned to do a bow and with the remaining stuff wrap the tree around. But if he wants to be part of this I will let him and it makes me extremely happy.

Let me tell you that decorating a Christmas Tree while pregnant is NOT an easy thing. For starters there is always very big belly right in front of you not letting you get close enough, and second its really hard to bend anymore.

See what I mean

Don't get me wrong I love Christmas Trees and I love my pregnancy and if I had to choose I chose my baby hands down, its just a little harder that all.

On and all it was a great experience and I know now what I will need for next year and what I need to learn. For example how to properly arrange the lights and ornaments, they look messy and unorganized. When we light the tree up it looks really weird, there are more lights on one side that the other, but for it being both ours first one I think we did OK.

Well I think this is all on Christmas Trees, lets wait for my hubby's Topper and we will see.

Take Care

Late Beginning

This is not a reflection on my life and more on my blogging experience. I wanted to create a blog a long time ago so I could record the changes while they happened. So.. what happened? Beats me. I wanted to write on my college experience... Graduated in 2010, whats left. Um, well Marriage the first year.. just celebrated my anniversary in 09/2011. Lets try pregnancy, well I can write about that even if I am almost 8 months along right..:)

Maybe I should do a small intro, I live in San Juan which is the capital of Puerto Rico. Puerto Rico is a small island in the Caribbean and our primary language is spanish.

We enjoy a very tropical climate but it comes with hurricanes. Its very nice for my non pregnant times; right now its hot as hell and I want to live in my freezer, but I DON'T FIT. Darn it.

Its great for people like me who cannot take directions AT ALL because if you get lost you end up at sea and turn around. So that's kinda fun. We have the most beautiful beaches and tropical forest in the world.

So enough about my island.. I guess this is a good introduction as any. If I think of anything else I will be sure to publish it.
